I have been trained in a traditional German college and have gained crafts skills in production throwing, handbuilding, tile making for German tile stoves, kiln and glaze technology.  I have also learned to make plaster molds and technical drawings. After this very accurate education I came to England to find my own free voice in the making of ceramics.

My special interests are spontaneously thrown tableware and soda firing, inspired by potters like Micki Schloessingk, Ruthanne Tudball and Asian pots.

Travel

I have travelled extensively to India, Australia, USA, Sweden, Italy and Indonesia to gain experience in dance meditation and Gurdjieff Movements for myself as well as being trained as a teacher.

Personal interests

Besides dance meditation and oriental dance I like walking in the mountains and listening to my favourite world musician Mari Boine. I enjoy cooking in the same spontaneous way I make my pots, preferably couscous and other world food.

I enjoy very much to work with people, especially the aspect of teaching and sharing knowledge.

Statement

My work circles around two of the basic human needs: eating and touching, which I satisfy by producing freely thrown tableware. My inspiration comes from my experience in dance, finding freedom and stillness in the movement.

These “Living Pots” are a result of my hands dancing with the clay on the wheel and the fire and soda meandering around the pieces in the kiln. Through the spontaneous making and the exciting soda firing every piece is given an animate and unique spirit, ready to be handled and enjoyed, embraced into people’s life.
